Problem with HP Deskjet D2560 drivers

I've been using DD for a long time, and I think it's great!
Thank you very much for your job.
In the past days I found a problem with my new HP Deskjet D2560 printer on Win XP SP2.
I downloaded the last drivers from HP site, and installed them.
Then I create a backup using DD (I tried the old 1.0 and the new 2.1 version, but all of them have the same problem).
When I try to restore these drivers on a fresh XP machine for these reasons:
- DD doesn't backup the difxapi.dll file (included in the original CD)
- DD searches hpzius12.sys and oter *.sys files under dot4/win2000 subfolders, but these folders aren't created during backup and these files are in the same position as oemx.inf files.

I could send you the *.vcc files of the original driver and the folder created by DD, if you think they're useful...

Do you think this is something expected, or a bug?

Thank you for your report.

Yes please send me:
1. *.vcc files of the original driver
2. *.vcc files of folder created by DD
3. *.inf files
4. *.ini files

Compress them with 7-zip (.7z) and send them to boozet_at_gmail_dot_com.

Thank you in advance!

I tried the new 3.0 version and the missing file problem has been fixed.
But I have another unexpected behaviour if I follow this steps:
- I do a driver backup with DD 3.0
- I do a restore with DD 3.0 on a fresh XP installation
- I restart the PC (as requested by DD)
- I plug my HP D2560 printer USB cable
- the "Found new Harware wizard" pops up
- I select Install software automatically (since I did a driver restore)
- The automatic procedure fails!!!! I have to Install from a specific location and browse to the folders created with the DD backup function.
Is this an expected behaviour?
How should the "Restore" function be used?

Tks in advance

Try to restore everything related to the printer like “HP Deskjet D2560 series (DOT4USB)”, “HP Deskjet D2560 series (DOT4PRT)”, “HP Deskjet D2560 PCL 5”, “HP Deskjet D2560 PCL 6”, etc.

Hope it helps.

Try to restore everything related to the printer

I did exactly this, but as I wrote in my previous post this didn't work.
I had to reinstall the driver manually

I tried the new DD 4.0 and I noticed a lot of improvements.
Unfortunately the restore doesn't work for HP Deskjet D2560 printer.

Please connect any device that you want to restore the device driver and make sure your device is discoverable.

Was the printer connected BEFORE you did the restore using DD?

Have you try this (using DD 4 Alpha):
- Connect the printer (turned on)
- If a message is displayed saying that Windows has found new hardware and asking you to install the driver, click Cancel
- Open DD and do the restore of the printer driver

By the way, you did the backup using DD 4 Alpha, didn't you? (sorry to have to ask, just to make sure ;) )

Thank you.

I follow this steps exactly, then I reboot the PC.
The found new hardware wizard pops-up again, and I select "Cancel", so Windows says that there has been an error while installing the new hardware.
The printer is visible in the printer list, and marled as "ready" and I'm able to successfully print the test page.
But every thime I start Windows, or plug the printer, the "Found new hardware" wizard pops-up!!!
If I re-install manually all the drivers through the "Found new hardware" wizard, this window doesn't pop-up anymore

What happen if you select "Next" on the found new hardware wizard ("Search Automatically" selected) after you reboot the PC?
